Welcome

After a successful Republican primary in the 2010 State Superintendent of Education election, and then receiving an astounding 152,319 votes in the runoff, Elizabeth Moffly announces her candidacy for South Carolina’s State Superintendent of Education race for 2014.

Taking a different approach than the other candidates, Elizabeth believes that the job of the State Superintendent is to lead inter-agency collaboration to address and develop policies that are in the best interest of student achievement.

Elizabeth understands that teamwork is the key to success in every organization. Collaboration among teachers, administrators, students, parents, and public-private partnerships has a major impact in creating school environments that foster innovation and creativity. Her impressive resume and experience will help lead the way to South Carolina’s educational success.

This isn’t about a political agenda or vendetta, this is about the children! – Elizabeth Moffly

Elizabeth plans to implement real choice and real change beginning with the following points:

  • Offer BOTH college prep and vocational education routes to a high school diploma.
  • Align SC State High School Diploma 24-credit graduation requirement to the Commission of Higher Education’s 19-credit recommendation for college admission standards – saving the state almost half a billion dollars, without making cuts to education basics.
  • Change the South Carolina Uniform Grading Scale to align with the rest of the nation’s 10-point scale.
  • Revise the Standards of Learning to provide a strong foundation of the basics – reading, writing, and arithmetic – giving students the tools to succeed in life.

Elizabeth’s four point plan was often imitated by other candidates in the 2010 Superintendent race. In fact, Mick Zais admitted to using Elizabeth’s platform while he was campaigning. Sadly, as much as voters wanted to see these changes, he never implemented one item in the plan.

It is not too late to make those changes happen! The primary is June 10th, 2014.
